ABC Far North Queensland

The public broadcaster ABC Far North Queensland serves northern Australia with regional news, reports, and weather information. The broadcast area covers Cairns City, Atherton, Mareeba, Weipa, and Cooktown, extending to Cape York and the surrounding regions.

In its editorial content, the team led by journalists such as Rosanne Maloney and Christopher Testa focuses intensively on local issues. These include reports on crime and legal policy in towns such as Mareeba, regional court proceedings, and investigations into missing persons cases. In addition to daily news, local community projects, nature topics such as newly discovered animal species in Queensland’s forests, and weather reports also play a central role in the programming.
