BR Heimat

BR Heimat is a radio service from Germany that focuses entirely on folk music, catering to listeners who appreciate Bavarian and Alpine sounds. As an offering from Bayerischer Rundfunk, the station connects the name of the region with the music that has been played there for generations.

The playlist features typical pieces of folk music: lively brass music with tuba and flugelhorn, leisurely Ländler with violin and harmonica, parlor music with zither or hammered dulcimer, as well as yodels and Gstanzl that tell of life in the country. In between, there are regional songs, often performed with dialect vocals, that make the sound of the region audible.
