Jukejoint

The Kassel webcast project Jukejoint brings the music history of the 1930s and 1940s back into the present. The program airs on the laut.fm platform, with a musical focus on a cross-style era. The rotating stream features historical recordings from the areas of rhythm and blues, swing, jazz, country, ragtime, and the Great American Songbook.

The concept is based on the music selection of earlier jukeboxes. The repertoire includes defining artists such as Louis Jordan, Charlie Parker, Gene Autry, Big Bill Broonzy, and Sister Rosetta Tharpe. Regularly recurring program segments like the Juke Joint Mix supplement the fixed format, which is also characterized by interpreter sizes like Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington, and Sonny Boy Williamson II.
