About the station
Metro FM belongs to the media company Karnaval, which describes itself as the largest audio platform in Turkey. According to the website, the station can be received in several regions of the country, and also as a livestream around the clock via the Karnaval app and karnaval.com. The site promotes Metro FM with the slogan “Limitsiz Hit Müzik”, meaning hit music without limits, which is more of a self-description than an independent assessment.
The programme relies on presenters with their own shows. Cengiz Ünsal hosts “Metro Online” on weekdays from 2 to 5 p.m. and the chart show “Metro FM Top 20”, which airs on Saturdays and Sundays. Arkın Çelik can be heard on weekdays from 5 to 7 p.m. with “Around The World”. Emirhan Koca presents the show “Shazam Stars”, which is broadcast on Fridays from 2 to 3 p.m. and on Saturdays from 6 to 7 p.m.
The website does not provide founding years or frequencies for Metro FM Istanbul, so little can be documented about the station’s history.
