RNE Radio 3

Radio 3 is a Spanish public radio station operated by Radio Nacional de España (RNE), the radio division of RTVE. It is known for its programming featuring indie, alternative, hip-hop, and dance music as well as genres such as flamenco, jazz, blues, and heavy metal, which are rare on commercial radio.

Its origins date back to 1952, when the Programa Cultural de RNE en OM launched. In 1967 it was renamed El Tercer Programa. Radio 3 emerged in 1979 as a nighttime block and became an independent national station in 1981. The schedule consists of 70% specialized music shows and 30% culture-related features on literature, film, theater, and art. Presenters have full editorial freedom without playlists.

Radio 3 reaches half a million listeners weekly and supports innovative artists.
