SomaFM Space Station Soma

Behind Space Station Soma lies one of the specialized channels of the Californian internet radio station SomaFM. The station consistently dedicates itself to the genres Ambient and Mid-Tempo Electronica. Musically, the focus is on productions that foreground analog sounds and cover the period from 1990 to the present. The programming completely foregoes the usual advertising breaks so as not to interrupt the immersive character of the electronic soundscapes.

The project is funded exclusively by listener donations and the sale of fan merchandise, underscoring its independent character. Technically, the station offers high flexibility: via the SomaFM website or external media players, various stream qualities are available, including AAC formats at 128 kbit/s or lossless MP3 variants. As part of the network based in San Francisco since the year 2000, Space Station Soma sees itself as a permanently available sound source for fans of decelerated electronic music seeking a curated atmosphere beyond classic radio rotations.
