Thornbury Radio

Thornbury Radio acts as a local voice for the English market town of Thornbury and the surrounding district. The station positions itself as an information hub that closely accompanies daily life in the South Gloucestershire region. In addition to a music programme, the station provides a dedicated news service covering specific local events such as municipal construction projects, road closures, and regional traffic information. The editorial focus also includes practical service offerings for listeners, such as local weather reports, information on bus and train connections, and an overview of public services and police reports from the immediate area.

Particular emphasis is placed on roots in community life. Through formats like Community Spotlight and the programme Thornbury Thinks, the station offers a platform for local topics and societal discussions. Additionally, the programming supports local cultural life by regularly reporting on events, local theatre groups, and charitable activities. Technically, the station can be received via DAB as well as via livestream and smart speaker systems. The project is run by a team that also relies on volunteers to ensure the daily supply of listeners with relevant regional content.
