Capital FM
About the station
Capital FM is a British commercial radio network that specializes in current pop and hit music. It launched in 1973 as Capital Radio in London on 95.8 FM and 539 m MW as the city’s first independent entertainment station and quickly became a rival to BBC Radio 1.
Over the years, it expanded through acquisitions into a national network with local stations. Well-known presenters such as Chris Tarrant, Kenny Everett and Roger Scott shaped the programming, which established breakfast shows and chart hits. Since 2005, it has been part of the Global Group. Today it broadcasts nationwide on FM, DAB and online with a focus on Top 40 music and entertainment.
The network includes regional variants and has millions of listeners in the United Kingdom.
