laut.fm – Radio 4 U

Radio 4U was the youth radio station of Sender Freies Berlin (SFB) and broadcast from 1990 to the end of 1992.

The station launched on 30 April 1990 on the Berlin frequency 98,2 MHz as part of SFB 4. It targeted a young audience with a focus on pop and rock music. The programme initially followed a fixed schedule, which was slightly adjusted in 1992 and extended to 24 hours. Well-known presenters such as Helmut Lehnert shaped the programmes.

Due to financial cuts at SFB, Radio 4U was shut down on 31 December 1992. After its closure, there were connections to Rockradio B of ORB, where broadcasting continued under the dual brand Rockradio B/Radio 4U. Today, fan sites such as radio4u-online.de document its history.
