Radio Chanove

Behind the Bulgarian online niche program Radio Chanove, founded in 2010, is the eponymous association for traditional Bulgarian folk dances. The web radio was created on the occasion of the dance club’s fifth anniversary and has since dedicated itself to the preservation and dissemination of the national folkloric heritage. The operators describe the station as the first Bulgarian web radio that broadcasts exclusively traditional folk music from the country.

The program is available 24/7 as a live stream via its own website as well as through a mobile app for Android devices. The music selection includes hundreds of artists and folkloric ensembles from all regions of Bulgaria. The technical operation of the station, which also includes the payment of copyright fees to the Bulgarian licensing organization PROPHON, is funded directly by the operating company Chanove OOD as well as by voluntary donations and contributions from the listenership.
