About the station
Soul Radio is a Dutch music station that plays soul, funk, R&B and disco. According to its own description, the station presents itself as an alternative to NPO Soul & Jazz, the soul offering of the public broadcaster in the Netherlands. The programme can be received via the website, a dedicated app, Sonos, and large radio portals such as TuneIn and nederland.fm.
The music profile ranges from the Atlantic, Motown and Stax classics of the 1960s through funk and (post-)disco of the 1970s and 1980s to R&B and soul hits of the 1990s and 2000s. This is complemented by a selection of newer soul productions. One focus is on Soft Soul in the late evening show, which runs from 23:00 to 01:00.
The schedule includes the series Extended, in which long versions, remixes and 12-inch singles play without interruption for two hours. The website also offers a Gemist section, where missed programmes can be listened to again.
