80s80s – Alternative

The German radio station 80s80s Alternative is exclusively dedicated to the offbeat and guitar-driven sounds of the 1980s. This specialty program streams around the clock music beyond the mass-market pop mainstream and sheds light on the roots of modern indie rock.

The musical repertoire includes formative acts such as The Cure, Talking Heads, Madness and The Jeremy Days. The music selection is complemented by artists such as Modern English, who, with songs like I Melt With You, shaped the soundtrack of this era.

The program also explores the social and political backgrounds of the independent culture of that time, when many bands deliberately released on small independent labels.
