80s80s – Reggae

The digital station 80s80s Reggae is a niche channel within the radio landscape available in Germany, focusing exclusively on the reggae hits of the decade. The programming reflects the historical developments of the genre, as musicians increasingly went into exile due to political and social crises in their homeland of Jamaica, and London in particular became a new creative epicentre of the music style.

The rotation of the online stream reflects the full breadth of this era. Both genre-defining artists with direct Jamaican roots and international acts and chart artists who discovered the sound for themselves in the 1980s are featured. The musical repertoire includes well-known acts such as UB40, The Clash and Culture Club, who incorporated reggae and ska influences into their pop and rock productions.
