Black Roots Radio

Black Roots Radio from the United Kingdom devotes itself entirely to the far-reaching world of reggae. The programme serves as an acoustic archive and a vibrant platform for the full spectrum of this music genre, which has its roots in Jamaica. Listeners can expect a well-founded compilation that goes far beyond well-known chart successes. The focus lies on the deep anchoring in culture, whereby both classic roots reggae tracks and dub experiments as well as contemporary productions find their place. In this way, the station preserves the spirit of a music that has been valued worldwide for decades for its social messages and its distinctive offbeat rhythm.

The musical design of Black Roots Radio emphasizes the rhythmic complexity and spiritual depth of the genre. Instead of relying on superficial hits, the team curates a selection that traces the development of reggae from the 1970s to the present. By deliberately avoiding unnecessary moderation, the station brings the soundscapes of the basslines and the distinctive brass sections to the forefront. For lovers of British sound-system culture and international reggae traditions, the station offers a continuous source of sound that strictly focuses on the authenticity and artistic expression of this Jamaican music style.
