BBC Radio 6 Music

The British programme BBC Radio 6 Music has firmly established itself as a digital station in the UK’s broadcasting landscape, focusing entirely on experimental, independent and historical currents in alternative music. Free from the obligation to constantly rotate commercial chart hits, the station devotes itself to genre-defying sounds from the fields of indie rock, post-punk, electronica, avant-garde and psychedelic.

Musical rarities, exclusive live sessions from the British archives and well-informed curation by knowledgeable presenters shape the daily profile. The editorial focus lies on discovering new artists beyond the mainstream as well as the in-depth contextualisation of influential subcultures. The programme caters to a distinctly music-oriented audience that values cross-genre sound art and journalistic depth.
